Silicate/polysilicate (nano 0.7) CO2-saving and climate-friendly – Are young and curious engineers changing our „Building Island Germany“ in Europe? Let’s give the „young wild“ a go. Vienna and Oslo release research funds. Experiments on the artificial hardening process of stone and concrete successful.

Something is moving in GoodOldGermany. Bauchemie and Chemie.de (nanoparticles save historic buildings) report on chemical compounds without poisons. Is that even possible? What I have learned in the past 24 months – it has been working for over 40 years. Silicate compounds – mineral building materials react with silicates/polysilicates (Nano 0.7).

Brief explanation – in the 70s, international consortia (banks/insurers/corporations) ordered the concrete to be sealed for future oil rig mega-concrete construction projects. The concrete is supposed to resist cold, pressure, water (salt water), toxins and aggressive chemicals.

Norwegian scientists developed a silicate product (solution) in the nano range. The product, consisting of many ingredients – was presented after years of development. Many tests successfully completed. The concrete of the drilling platforms (supply pipes up to a depth of 400m and above the water level) was sealed and the installations in the North Sea have lasted until today.

The „verifiability as well as functionality“ is almost impossible for internationally proven products in Germany without a lobby? Traditional manufacturers and corporations with turnovers in the billions as well as trained lobbying dominate the market. Do they influence associations and societies? Do they influence our architects, engineers and investors?

Since 2020, I have been allowed to work on silicates/polysilicates and their effectiveness on mineral building materials. An intensive study. This resulted in an information platform with over 70 sub-pages. For every field of application, every branch, private or commercial, I was allowed to compile the picture galleries from all over the world. Compiling and formulating content. What a strong job.

Technical detectability of Silicate/Polysilicate in the nano range

  • Phenolphthalein test – detection of pH value of concrete and stone
  • Reacts to calcium hydrate – turns purple
  • Silicate/polysilicate product treated – calcium silicate hydrate is formed
  • Result: Phenolphthalein cannot react with calcium silicate hydrate – no colouring
  • Detection with special electrodes – electrolytic pH value detectable 9-13 pH

Liability and proof in the construction industry

Engineers, architects and craftsmen need „proof“ of liability for their clients. This is provided by traditional manufacturers with expert reports. These have been confirmed in the past by associations and societies. This is where the „liability“ comes from. Thus, thousands of tons of epoxy resins, bitumen, black paint, plastics and silicones are still used in Germany/Europe on a daily basis. Highly toxic and polluting.

Where do the toxic coatings actually disappear to?

Liability period 5 years – regulated in Germany. This means that the „processors“ are not liable. It is striking that the durability of many products does not even extend to the double-calculated years. Ok – that’s market economy – everything has to be renewed once in a while. Turnover is also quite nice. At the expense of our future generations.

But where do the toxic sealing products disappear to? Some coatings that were applied are simply gone. It may well be that they move out into the open and feel good. Joke: The chemicals and toxins are released to the corrosion. Dissolve into fine particles and get into the drinking water, for example. Are contained in the air or can be detected in the soil.

Do bacteria break down the toxins?

I am firmly convinced that bacteria take away many toxins from us. They help us unconsciously. However, we pump tons into the environment every day. Build it into our beloved real estate. Secure and regulate everything precisely. Watertight and thermally insulated – all DIN e.V. recommended. I rely on our bacteria…

2021 – Legislator enacts a preferential duty for sustainable building products

With almost 20%, the construction industry influences the climate balance worldwide – negatively. This has been recognised and addressed. Here I was able to do extensive research with Senior Chef (manufacturer komsol.de) Toni Schonfelder, as well as vividly experience his over „40 years of experience in construction“.

Decades of diffusion-open, durable finishing of concrete. Experience from over 80 countries. Even the concrete world champions USA with their skyscrapers commissioned construction service providers who process the silicate product.

In Germany, SUCON Group AG processes the silicate mixture. After strict specifications and elaborate training by the manufacturer, the company can refine concrete and stone at any location in „DACHNL“. Stressed concrete that has been in use for years as well as new construction projects are prepared for the future with silicates. The product is not freely available in building/craft markets or DIY stores. Application is coupled with liability. Proper application by specialised companies guarantees durability for decades.

I have been allowed to lead „Business Development Management“ and communication as a team member for a short time. It fulfils me and offers me a platform to make a difference and „do good“ – let’s make our properties a little less toxic.

Saving CO2 and thus climate-friendly – taking on a pioneering role

Building products „without maintenance“ and refined for decades relieve our CO2 balance. They even ensure climate-friendly values. The ball is in our generation’s court. The building industry could take on a pioneering role. Dragging other European neighbouring countries along with it and thus ensuring non-toxic refinement of building materials.

An interesting reference sent to me. Dipl.-Ing. Krause from Plauen is in charge of the Staakmühle building project in Staakow. This listed property was approved for ‘free decay’ by the monument protection authority. If individual stones/areas fall apart, they may only be partially replaced. No chemical coating products may be used. Highly toxic products (VOC, PFAS, bitumen or epoxy resins) were not permitted. Dipl.-Ing. Krause commissioned the sealing with Innerseal® and Topseal®

As a concierge and blogger, I have been inspired. Until 2020, I had no basic knowledge about concrete and its durability – sure, the cracks on Berlin’s streets, bridges or house/parking garage walls were insignificant. Especially when there were brown edges and stripes on the surface – I couldn’t grasp the implications. With many conversations, almost courses, I was able to learn a lot. What these signs mean. If it already looks like that – nothing good for the condition of the material. Action must be taken immediately.
